About F J Rutland Public School

F.J. Rutland is a safe, friendly, and exciting learning environment for children. We are the Trojans! Our school is focused on student achievement, learning to be good citizens, and striving to fully realize our personal strengths and talents.

F.J. Rutland was built in 1970 and was originally a grade 7 to 8 school. Presently, our school is home to grades 4 to 8. We have eight homeroom classes with approximately 190 students.

We have a very active and dedicated staff that is focused on student achievement. In addition, our team of teachers provides our students with an extracurricular program that maximizes student participation.

Our school Mascot is the Trojan. Our school logo appears on our spirit wear, on our print material, uniforms, and website.

Physical Plant

F.J. Rutland has large classrooms on two floors. On the first floor, we have an excellent hard wood gymnasium. This facility is excellent for team sports such as volleyball and basketball. Students have access to a fully equipped sports storage room. The gym has connecting change rooms for both boys and girls. Adjacent to the length of the gym is our stage area. During the day, the stage serves as our cafeteria for junior students. In our front foyer, we have a Student of the Month bulletin board to recognize children that have had excellent success in a particular area. Visitors can learn a great deal about our school and the community from our other foyer information boards.

In our hallways, you will see student work on display, our student awards, and photos of children participating in school events.

On our second floor we have a fully updated computer lab that can accommodate a full class of students. Our library has a well-rounded collection of reference materials, novels, and non-fiction books.
